Hermes Hotel (Athens), the hotel of convenience

What do you look for in hotel when you travel? I know some people who enjoy five-star hotel, some people look for quiet location, and everyone has their own preference when it comes to choosing their hotels. And if you're traveling to Athens and your hotel preferences are budget friendly, strategic location and comfortable rooms, then you have to check out Hermes Hotel. It is a 3 stars superior boutique hotel.

Situated at Plaka, Hermes Hotel is right in the middle of all the major attractions in Athens. The Acropolis, Roman Market, Temple of Olympian Zeus are all within walking distance from the hotel.

The room is so clean and comfy. All the basic amenities are provided, and it comes with huge mirror. For us girls, the huge mirror was a big plus point!

The beds were so soft and comfy, I could slumber in it within few minutes lying down. But of course in the morning I had to fight waking up from the bed.

We had our very own balcony. It's such a perfect spot to have a bottle of wine at night at the balcony. It feels so "neighborhood-ly".

I must say the Hermes Hotel is more than just hotel where you go back to your room and your hide yourself in. They actually have their own library and a coffee place where you can hang out with other travelers...

There's also a common computer where you can online, print your stuff, etc. There's free wifi on every floor of the hotel if you have your own device, this computer is for the convenience of printing your travel itineraries, tickets, etc.

I really love the Greece map that they put up at the lobby. It gives me inspiration to redecorate my wall at home. I just love it...

At the hotel lift, they have prepared some important info for travelers like bus schedules, main tourist attractions operating time & fees, etc. I appreciate how thoughtful they are...

Another part which I like is the hotel breakfast. The breakfast is included in the room rate. To be honest, the selection is quite basic - toast, egss, pastries, cereals, etc. But my favorite part is this......

They have a section of Greek breakfast where they are all made of local produces. I can't stop myself from the olives and yoghurt jelly. Oh my god.... they're sooooo good!

While we were having our breakfast, the hotel manager, Dorina came to our table simply to greet us Good morning, or in Greek.... Kalimera! She does that to every table, every morning. She brought us a tourist map and showed us how to walk to Acropolis. I've never seen hotel managers being so hospitable anywhere else.

On the top the hotel, there's a rooftop garden. The view is simply amazing!!! You can see the Acropolis and the entire Athens city from the rooftop.

I think if you can get the rooms on upper floors, you might be able to get the Acropolis view from the balcony. When lite up at night, the Acropolis is such breathtaking beauty.

Here's the obligatory photo outside the hotel...

This is one hotel that I would recommend. The room rate cost about 75euros, depending on your room type and traveling time. Although awarded with 3 star, in terms of satisfaction, I'll give it a 5 star.
