[REVIEW & TIPS] HOW TO CREATE SHARP FEATURES ON YOUR FACE

Only those girls with sharp features will ended up on the fashion runway and glossy magazines. Aitelyu... those are optic illusion wei. In makeup, you call it the art of contour.

Contouring your face give you:

1. Higher nose bridge
2. Slimmer face shape
3. Higher cheek bones
4. Smaller forehead
5. Pointed shin
6. Deeper eye socket

The trick is to create shadows with darker brown color and enhance your features with highlight.

Look at the difference of before and after contouring:

Few months ago, I managed to get hold of the Coastal Scents contour palette. I've heard so much good things about Coastal Scents and decided I should try it. Since my friend, Michelle, sells some Coastal Scents products, I got this one from her.

The palette comes with six color of contour, blush and highlight. Check out the swatches below:

For fairer Asian skin, No. 2 and 3 is not that visible. If you have tanned skin like mine, it can be a good highlight color.

All the colors are matte. It's good because it won't make your face look too oily when you apply the highlight. And the color is quite universal for any skin tone (I'm just not too sure if it works on ebony skin).

As you know, Coastal Scents is not a brand which has their own retail. You have to get it only from agents that sell it. Or you can purchase directly from their website. Almost all of their products are damn good. It's fantastic for its price too. Because Michelle sells them, I had the privilege to play with a lot of the products. So far I find that their eyeshadows, eyeliner, brushes, eye primer, and blush are seriously on par with Inglot and MAC.

Just follow the face chart below for contouring to achieve sharper face feature.

Of course you only need to apply on necessary part of your face. If let's say you already have high nose bridge, you can skip the step on contouring your nose area.

As for me, I only put it below my cheek to make my face look smaller. And if I apply eyeshadow, I will contour my eyes so it looks as if I have deep socket. I will usually skip the other steps.

Here's  a really good video on contouring by makeup guru on Youtube. I think it's easier to watch this video to understand the process. She might talks a bit too much, but she is really informative.

Now that you know how to contour, you don't need to photoshop your photos or starve yourself to look thinner on photos. And please don't waste your money to buy a brand new contour palette. You can use your bronzer or eyeshadow to substitute the contour palette. It's basically the same thing. They just put it in one palette to make it more convenient for users. So you can try out with your existing makeup products first before buying the palette.
